I am a Canadian-American dual citizen working professionally in visual effects for film and television and have been living in Canada since 2014. I've worked with such creative visionaries as Henry Selick, Tim Burton, Charlie Kaufman, and Robert Zemeckis, helping make their distinct visions a reality. 

During the pandemic, I began experimenting with abstract art, first digitally and later in acrylic and mixed media. I have studied with artists Nicholas Wilton and Stacey Phillips and I’m otherwise self=taught. I live just outside Montreal, Quebec, with my two cats and paint from my basement studio.

I’m drawn to the offbeat and the weird. Although my first love was collage, in 2025 I began a deep dive into abstract portraiture.  I collect images of unusual expressions and distinctive features, using them as references while striving to capture the emotion, character, and uniqueness that first caught my attention. I usually don’t start with ideas in mind, but prefer to build on rough, early marks or textures and improvise from there, uncovering or building a face into it. I rarely pursue likeness, much preferring to expand on the wrongness of a perspective, or lean into the weird, for a satisfying abstract composition.

After more than 30 years spent helping others tell their stories, abstract portraiture has become the way I tell mine. In the layered textures, awkward perspectives, and peculiar faces I create, I've found a creative language that feels unmistakably my own.
